COVINGTON CO., AL (WSFA) - An elderly couple from Opp has been laid to rest following a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Covington County.

Irving Ladon Bullard, 82, and Mary Ellen Bullard, 77, only recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

"They enjoyed spending time with their church friends and especially their grand and great grand "babies". Mr. Bullard liked working in his yard and Mrs. Bullard liked to crochet.  She had helped make many prayer quilts with her church group.  Their love for each other, their friends, family, church and God was evident every day in their lives."

The couple's obituary can be read HERE.

The Bullards were killed when the 1996 Dodge Dakota truck Mr. Irving was driving collided with a tractor-trailer. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

Investigators said the crash happened at the intersection of Alabama 299 (U.S. 84 Bypass) and Covington County 85 in the Horn Hill community.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
