Man found dead in vehicle in downtown Troy identified

TROY, AL (WSFA) - Police have identified the man found dead inside a vehicle in Troy Saturday as 52-year-old Richard Allen McNaught.

According to the Troy Police Department, McNaught was a resident of Wisconsin and was employed as a caretaker for an elderly subject in Barbour County.

Around 3:15 p.m. an officer came into contact with a vehicle parked on the square that was still running. The officer noticed a white male slumped over the inside of the vehicle and attempted to speak with him. The man remained unresponsive and the officer called for medical personnel.

When medical personnel arrived on scene it was determined that the man, identified as McNaught, was dead.

McNaught's body did not show any physical signs of trauma and the cause of death has not been determined at this time. His body has been taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science so that an autopsy can be performed.
