MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - We're up to 5 consecutive record-setting days, and we're likely not done yet. Unseasonably warm air will persist through tomorrow. But we're tracking a cold front that promises to sweep out the heat & replace it with something more accommodating for this time of year.
TODAY: The number to beat Wednesday is 86, and I think there's a good chance we'll end up getting there. We'll have a touch more cloud cover around, but no rain is expected.
NEXT COLD FRONT: The end of our heat wave arrives after a frontal boundary sweeps through late Thursday night. Rain prospects along the front are minimal at best, non-existent in all likelihood. The big focus will come with the dropoff in temperatures from Thursday ahead of the front to Friday behind it.
Highs will fall into the 70s for highs Friday with overnight lows trickling into the 40s. This overall cooler trend will linger into the weekend, which will continue to be dry.
Our drought monitor will update Thursday morning. With zero rain over the last 7 days, the update will showcase a worsening of drought conditions areawide. The next 7 days doesn't hold a lot of promise with zero rain anticipated.
