3 facing felony charges after altercation in Alex City department store

ALEXANDER CITY, AL (WSFA) - Alexander City Police say two women and a man are in custody facing felony charges after an altercation inside a department store Sunday.

Corporal Michael Howell says the altercation happened around 11:50 a.m. Police were called to the Roses department store after a call that shots had been fired inside the store. When an officer arrived he witnessed one of the women shooting inside the store. The woman was then taken into custody.

After further investigation, it was determined the shooting happened after one of the women pepper-sprayed the other during the altercation. The other woman, with the assistance of the male, began firing shots inside the store.

All three suspects were taken into custody. The woman who fired the gun, and is not being named at this time, is facing a charged of discharging a firearm into an occupied building. The male suspect is facing the same charges. The woman who used the pepper-spray is being charged with illegal use of chemical spray, which is a felony.

No other details regarding this shooting have been released at this time.
