Huntingdon aims to clinch conference title on Saturday at Averett

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - One more win and Mike Turk and the Huntingdon Hawks will be singing "We are the Champions" for the second straight season!

Huntingdon knocked off former conference leader Maryville last weekend, and a win over Averett on Saturday will give the Hawks the USA South Athletic conference crown.

It also gives the Hawks an automatic bid to the Division III playoffs.

Coach turk hopes the Hawks have plenty of fuel for Saturday's road trip to Averett.

"I think everybody is very conscientious of what is at stake this week and what's got to happen for us to be successful," Turk stated.

"We have been playing the best football ever since North Carolina Wesleyan week. It has been win or go home ever since then," said Huntingdon sophomore receiver Otis Porter

"We can't overlook anybody. We are feeling pretty good," said Huntingdon linebacker Trey Hayes.

The Hawks and Averett kickoff at noon on Saturday.
