ELMORE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - Longtime District 4 Elmore County Commissioner Joe Faulk tendered his resignation Monday.

Faulk resigned with a handwritten note on county letterhead. It is effective at midnight.

Faulk was charged with a felony ethics violation for allegedly using his public position for personal gain. Court documents indicate Faulk will plead guilty to information on Dec. 1. Pleading guilty to information must be initiated by the defendant, and allows the process to bypass going before a grand jury.

The governor will appoint someone to fill this position.
