MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery city council has begun to take the next steps in expanding the magnet school program so that magnet school offerings are available to more students.
During the weekly city council meeting, the council made the decision to have the standing education committee meet with the mayor and staff to see what can be done to improve the program.
Councilor Richard Bollinger says it's time to stop talking about it and start taking action to improve every school.
"We keep talking and meeting, but not really doing anything," Bollinger said. "I wanted to put some action steps there so that we can say okay let's go find out what we can do, what's necessary, call our partners, whether it be the county commission, other consultants, let's get around this table and start doing." something."
Councilor Bollinger says it's not about taking over the school system but looking at what the city can do to help improve schools.
