MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - One more (and one last) sub-freezing morning across parts of the viewing area earlier today. Those chilly readings are already long gone with full sunshine doing its thing. No more freezing issues for the next 7 days, but a more active weather pattern appears to be waiting to emerge.
TODAY: This is an easy one. Sunny. Warm. Highs in the lower 70s. Enjoy.
WEDNESDAY TRAVEL: The day before Thanksgiving is one of the biggest travel days of the year (next to Tonya's birthday later this week). A cold front will be approaching from the west tomorrow, spreading rain and rumbles into Mississippi. If you have plans that take you west of Alabama tomorrow, you'll run into the front and its rain. Eastward travelers encounter no problems.
The front washes out at it enters Alabama later Wednesday night into the overnight hours. What was a solid line of rain to our west will fade to broken light showers. The prospects for rain are dismal once again, but a few drops will remain possible overnight.
THANKSGIVING: That front could make things a bit more tricky Thursday. Models have trended toward the leftovers of that frontal boundary stalling across central Alabama Thanksgiving. That would take what would have otherwise been sunny skies and substitute more clouds & even a stray sprinkle, particularly early. More clouds would eat into projected temperatures into the middle 70s into the afternoon.
We'll continue to keep a dry & partly sunny forecast Thanksgiving, but know that we may have to steal some of that sun (and a few degrees) should that front fail to fully exit the area.
