Attempted murder arrest in Auburn Thanksgiving Day shooting

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - The Auburn Police Department has arrested a suspect and charged him with attempted murder in connection to a Thanksgiving Day shooting.

Tony L. Smith, 27, was arrested on Thanksgiving Day after officers responded to a house in the 100 block of Maple Street on reports of shots fired.

Officers were given the description of a man who was said to be brandishing a weapon before he fired it at someone. The suspect then fled on foot.

On November 24, 2016, the Auburn Police Division arrested Tony L. Smith, age 27 from Auburn on a felony warrant charging him with Attempted Murder.

Police said the victim was not injured or struck by gunfire, but a nearby residence was damaged.

Smith was transported to the Lee County Jail and was being held on a $75,000 bond.
