MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The city of Montgomery held a ceremonial opening of the newly designed Municipal Court Building on Thursday.
The new building, which is located at across from the Cramton Bowl, has been a project in the making for the last 15 years.
According to court administrator Ken Nixon, the court grew from a 7,000 square foot space to a 25,000 square foot space. The additional space adds dedicated parking for residents and staff, more pay windows and ample workspace for employees.
According to the city, this new building will allow for better judicial efficiency by the addition of two courtrooms. This benefits the citizens by having smaller dockets which will allow the court to handle more cases, reorganizing the structure for maximum efficiency.
This project cost the city $4.6 million.
