OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) - An Opelika student has taken what it means to give to a whole new level by purchasing Christmas gifts for her entire school.
Southview Primary second-grader Abby Henderson says months ago, she realized some children wouldn't have gifts under the tree for Christmas. The 8-year-old wasted no time making sure that wasn't the case for the 430 students at her school.
By doing extra chores around the house and with the help of donations, she raised $200. With the money, she purchased a Christmas cup, two pencils, a tootsie roll and toy for every student at Southview.
"I thought that they would like it, everyone would have a good Christmas and no one would feel left out," said Henderson.
Henderson says she is looking forward to doing it again next year. She says she would like to make it a tradition.
