SELMA, AL (WSFA) - A Selma man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison on sodomy charges related to a 2015 case involving a child, according to Selma officials.
District Attorney Michael Jackon says Clemon P. Bailey, 24, pleaded guilty to sodomy first-degree.
The case is related to an incident that happened on May 16, 2015. According to court documents, a woman stated she was giving a ride to Bailey when he asked her to pick up someone he knew. The woman picked up the 13-year-old victim and drove them back to Bailey's apartment.
Documents say the following morning the woman went back to Bailey's apartment to pick them up and the woman noticed the victim acting strange. The woman stated that she could tell something was wrong with the victim.
Later on, when Bailey exited the vehicle, the victim began to cry and told the woman that Bailey had forced himself onto the victim against the victim's will and sexually assaulted him. The woman then took the victim back to his residence and told the victim's parents what happened. The victim later told investigators that during a previous stay with Bailey the same incident had taken place.
"Sexually abusing kids is a horrible crime," Jackson said. "We are going to keep shipping these sexual predators off."
