MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Alabama House Democratic Caucus Thursday unveiled its agenda for the session, called "We Are Alabama." The agenda includes repealing the state's grocery tax and coming up with a lottery proposal.
"While the other side has focused a lot on who goes to what bathroom or carrying a gun on a college campus, our focus is on jobs and creating an opportunity for every Alabamian," said Democratic Minority Leader Rep. Anthony Daniels, "and that's what we are going to stay focused on."
House Majority Leader Nathaniel Ledbetter reacted to the agenda, pointing out that it comes more than a month after the session started.
"House Republicans are more than halfway toward enacting the conservative policies included in the "Alabama Proud" legislative agenda that we released well before the session convened," Ledbetter said.
Republican Gov. Robert Bentley has also created a task force to consider eliminating the state's grocery tax.
