Mayor profiled by WSFA dies after battle with liver cancer
ARITON, AL (WSFA) - Sad news came out of Dale County today. Ariton mayor Pamela Spivey died last night at her parents' home in Ariton after a long battle with cancer.
WSFA 12 News reporter Bryan Henry profiled Spivey late last year after she won the mayor's race despite battling liver cancer. Spivey said at the time winning the mayor's office was a long time dream and displayed an indomitable spirit against her illness. Mayor Spivey was 48-years old.
The family says the visitation is set for Monday beginning at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark. Spivey's funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Bethel Assembly God Church in Ariton.
