TROY, AL (WSFA) - Sometimes when you play with fire, you get art.
"Some people like to ride bikes, some people like to travel, this is what I do to relax," said Steel My Dreams welder Nicholas Drivas.
When he's not working at his full-time job Drivas spends a good chunk of time in his workshop in Troy. He collects old car parts and welds them together to create unique pieces of art.
"There's a machine shop here. The guy is really nice. As long as it's cheap and scrap iron isn't really high, he will usually give it to me."
From zombie killing weapons made of chainsaws to a cannon firing soldier to a drag racing car, he can do just about anything.
"The drag race car, I kind of giggled a bit when I put the motor on. I do a lot of things and I guess you're always trying to one up yourself or make someone proud of it. My dad says this was his favorite. I was like thanks."
Drivas is also pretty brave. He let me do some welding too but I'm pretty sure all I did was burn some metal. It's a lot harder that it looks.
