MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The search for a missing Montgomery man as turned into a homicide investigation.

The body of Kordarrius Young was found in a Southlawn neighborhood more than a week after he disappeared.

Now, his family hopes to help uncover key information in the case with a plea to the community.

Young lived with his mother and they spoke to each other every day. When he didn't respond to her text messages or calls on Tuesday, March 21, she felt like something was wrong because he usually responds very quickly.

On Wednesday, she was calling his phone and it was ringing up to a certain point in the day, but then it started going to straight to voicemail.

When he still hadn't come home or shown up at work or contacted his family Wednesday, his mother reported him missing to the police.

On Friday, March 24, Young's SUV was found in the vicinity of Greensboro Drive in Southlawn Estates.

Then on Thursday, March 30, Montgomery police located a body in the 800 block of Southlawn Drive in the Southlawn East subdivision while searching the area for Young. It's a dead end area of Southlawn Drive flanked by several abandoned homes.

Forensics confirmed it was him and authorities determined the cause of death to be a homicide.

Police have not released how Young was killed.

His family was hoping and praying to hear news that he was found safe and sound. They'd been desperately sharing information on social media about his disappearance and combing the area for him as well. Now they're mourning his death.

"All we know is that the police are doing a murder investigation and they do have several leads that they're following up on but they haven't given us any other details," said his sister, Kinika Young.

She says Young was last seen at work.

"His last confirmed location was his place of employment at Krystal on Atlanta Highway and he left work at 3:30 on Tuesday. We thought at one point, that he had been seen at the casino in Wetumpka but we later found out that he was not there," she revealed.

His relatives are not aware of any particular reason he would be in the Southlawn neighborhood, where his car and body were located.

"He does know a lot of people. He has a lot of friends so it's possible he has friends there, I just don't know," Kinika added.

They also don't know of anyone who would want to hurt him.

"He would help anyone who needed help. He was a friendly, outgoing person and I can't think of any reason for anyone to want to harm him," his sister said.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in the case.

"Our sincerest condolences to the family," said the executive director, Tony Garrett.

"We won't have complete closure until we find out what happened and who did this to him. so we are still asking the community to come forward. if anyone has any information to please reach out to police and CrimeStoppers," Kinika Young said. "We just ask people to please call if they have information about what happened and who was involved."

The investigation by Montgomery police is ongoing. No other details were released.
