MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Alabama Department of Transportation is holding its second round of public and stakeholder meetings for the statewide transportation plan update.
ALDOT officials say the meeting will take place Tuesday at the southeast region Montgomery office from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
During the meetings, ALDOT officials will talk about the current conditions of the state's transportation system and its needs and priorities for the next 25 years. The meeting will address all modes of travel for passengers including freight, roadways and bridges, transit, bicycle and pedestrian, rail, aviation, and waterways.
"It identifies system needs, evaluates investments in infrastructure and maintenance, and compares historic and anticipated funding levels against needs," ALDOT officials said about the current plan. "The resulting plan establishes the programs, policies, and strategies that will be the focus of the State's efforts through 2040."
Officials encourage the community to attend and learn about the assessments. Residents can also share their thoughts on Alabama's transportation priorities through 2040.
