MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Department says it has charged a 26-year-old in the death of 19-year-old Caleb Royal, who died after a shooting Sunday night.

According to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Martha Earnhardt, detectives have charged Latoya Sanders with murder.

The shooting happened in the 4000 block of Amesbury Drive, Earnhardt said. After arriving at the scene officers located the victim, Royal, in life-threatening condition. Royal was taken to a Baptist Medical Center South where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators determined the shooting was related to an altercation between the victim and a third individual known to both the victim and the suspect. Sanders was identified as the suspect and taken into custody Earnhardt said.

No other information surrounding the shooting has been made for public release.

Sanders was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility under a $150,000 bond.
