TUSCALOOSA, AL (WSFA) - Could there be a quarterback battle up in Tuscaloosa? Both sophomore Jalen Hurts and freshman Tua Tagovailoa gave the fans at Bryant-Denny Stadium a show at the Crimson Tide's annual A-Day.

Hurts led the Crimson squad to a 27-24 victory over Tagovailoa's white team.

Hurts threw the ball well on the day going 16-for-25 for 301 yards and two touchdowns. His freshman counterpart completed 17 of 29 passes for 313 yards and three scores. Both quarterbacks also had one interception.

The receivers also stepped up in a big way.

T.J. Simmons led all receivers with six catches for 82 yards and a score. Robert Foster had only two catches, but they went for 50 and 65 respectively.

The bright spot was freshman Jerry Jeudy. Jeudy made a name for himself in front of the home crowd with five catches for 134 yards and two sensational touchdowns.

The defense did a solid job of slowing down the run game and forced 12 sacks on the day.

Head coach Nick Saban wants to see some improvement from his team during the summer and fall before they take on Florida State to open the season in September.
