Pedestrian dies after crash in Opelika Monday

OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) - Police are investigating a crash involving a pedestrian which left one person dead Monday, according to the Opelika Police Department.

According to Capt. Bobby J. Kilgore, around 9:48 p.m. officers were called to a crash involving a 2014 Chevrolet Impala and a pedestrian on Fox Run Parkway.

A preliminary investigation shows the Impala was traveling north on Fox Run Parkway, while the pedestrian was walking south in the northbound right turn lane. Kilgore says the pedestrian entered the roadway in front of the Impala, causing the Impala to strike the pedestrian.

Kilgore says the pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, later died from her injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by the Opelika Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call police at 334-705-5200.
