Man dies after Monday night shooting in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A man who suffered life-threatening injuries after a shooting Monday night has died according to officials with the Montgomery Police Department. Police are now conducting a death investigation.

Capt. Regina Duckett says around 9:40 p.m., officers responded to the 3600 block of Horseshoe Circle after a call that someone had been shot. When they arrived, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported from the scene to Baptist Hospital where he later died.

An investigation indicates the man was armed with a handgun when he forcibly entered a home in the 3700 block of Oak Shadow Lane.

Duckett said the man was confronted by the homeowner and there was an exchange of gunfire. The man fled the scene before later being found on Horseshoe Circle.

The homeowner was not injured during the altercation.

The man's name has not been released while the investigation is ongoing.
