MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The final Sounds of Summer event at the Shoppes at Eastchase ended with a big name.
Hundreds gathered to listen to Aaron Carter, younger brother of Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter and a musician popular in the early 2000s. Carter recently released his first songs in more than a decade: "Fool's Gold" and "Sooner or Later."
"I've kinda been focused on making music and producing and learning how to be a real artist and being able to identify with myself through my music," said Carter.
Carter also recently faced health issues after being body shamed. He says he is feeling much better now.
"I'm feeling really good," Carter said. "It's just important to stay focused no matter what kind of adversities come your way. I'm just doing my best to stay focused."
Carter says he is really happy to be performing again and working on his music.
"Especially my new music because it has a lot of meaning to me, and it's a part of my identity. I get to create it and work with a great team of people, and being able to touch into the throwbacks. Give them a little bit of old school," Carter said.
Carter has been touring since January. He will wrap his tour up on July 15 in Kansas City.
