Man arrested on drug trafficking charges in Chilton County

CHILTON CO., AL (WSFA) - A man has been arrested for drug trafficking in Chilton County after police found a large amount of meth inside the hotel room where he was allegedly staying.

According to the Chilton County Sheriff's Department, Travis Michael Williams, 21, is charged with drug trafficking and unlawful possession of paraphernalia.

On Saturday, narcotics investigators went to the Days Inn in Clanton to arrest Williams on an outstanding warrant, according to officials. During his arrest, deputies discovered a substance which tested positive for methamphetamine.

Officials say after the discovery, investigators were issued a search warrant for the hotel room. Once deputies were inside they discovered 130 grams of meth and other drug paraphernalia.

Investigators say the street value of the meth was estimated to be about $13,000.

Williams was taken to the Chilton County Jail under a $60,750 bond.
