GREENVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Greenville city councilman Jeddo Bell died Wednesday morning after a lengthy illness. He was 76 years old.

Bell was elected to the city council in 1996, and in 2016 he was elected to a fifth term as representative for District 5. Bell served as Mayor Pro-Tem from February of 2003 until early 2017, when health issues forced him to step down.

Bell was a former educator, and his time in education spanned over 45 years. He taught in the Butler County Public School System and at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College.
