MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A man is facing arson charges after a house fire in Montgomery, officials with the fire department announced on Thursday.
According to Sgt. Omari Whiting, Quenton T. Washington, 36, is charged with second-degree arson.
Firefighters responded to the scene of a house fire in the 300 block of Columbia Avenue on Monday. Whiting says shortly after, investigators began a criminal investigation into the cause of the fire.
The investigation determined the fire started when a blanket was set on fire in the unoccupied residence. Whiting says further investigation identified Washington as the suspect.
Washington was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility and placed under a $30,000 bond.
No other information related to the fire investigation has been released at this time.
