MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Alabama Nursing Home Association Ms. Alabama Nursing Home Pageant will be held in Birmingham Monday night.
Pageant officials are inviting the public to attend its 34th annual pageant at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham, the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, where the winner will be announced. The winner will serve as a spokesperson for nursing home residents and the Alabama Nursing Home Association.
Following preliminary judging in Montgomery, 49 nursing home residents participating in the pageant were narrowed down to 10 finalists. For this pageant, contestants are being judged on their outlook on life, personality, poise and involvement in their respective nursing homes.
"These contestants prove you can make a difference regardless of your age or ability," ANHA President & CEO Bill O'Connor said. "Each lady is a wonderful ambassador of her rehabilitation and long-term care center. I invite everyone to attend the pageant as we celebrate the contributions these ladies make in their nursing home and the community."
The contest will be judged by a panel that features Ms. Senior Alabama Elaine Willingham, Alabama's Distinguished Young Woman Claire Kendrick, Alabama Director of Homeland Security Shirrell Roberts and UAB School of Health Professions Director of Communications Kevin Storr.
