TUSKEGEE, AL (WSFA) - The Tuskegee Police Department has announced a third arrest in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Jaivontavious Sellers Saturday.
Sellers, of Union Springs, was shot and killed early Saturday morning in the 200 block of East Martin Luther King Highway.
According to Tuskegee police, Jamond Lawrence, 17, of Shorter, turned himself in to the Shorter Police Department Thursday morning.
Lawrence is charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle. A second suspect, Anthony Williford, 24, of Tuskegee, was arrested Tuesday on the same charges.
According to court documents, in which police refer to the victim as Cortez Sellers, Lawrence intentionally caused the death of Sellers by shooting him with a rifle and Williford intentionally caused the death of Sellers by shooting him with a semi-automatic handgun. Documents also indicate the attempted murder charges are related to when Lawrence shot into a vehicle occupied by Kayonna Robinson and Londen Green.
Robinson, 18, was arrested Saturday and charged with hindering prosecution in connection with the case.
According to Patrick, the department responded to a call around 2:17 a.m. regarding an incident in the 200 block of East Martin Luther King Highway.
