TROY, AL (WSFA) - A Troy man was arrested after he attempted to flee in a vehicle while an officer was caught in the window frame, according to the Troy Police Department.
Troy police arrested 29-year-old Willis Cogburn on numerous charges.
It all started when officers responded to reports of shots being fired in the 200 block of Love Street at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
When officers arrived on the scene, they came across Cogburn inside a vehicle that was parked in the area and playing loud music. While officers were speaking with Cogburn, he put the car in reverse to try and escape, according to police.
One of the officers got caught in the window frame of the car door. Cogburn crashed into an unoccupied car parked nearby. He was arrested immediately after the crash.
The officer involved wasn't injured.
Cogburn was booked into the Pike County Jail on charges of obstructing governmental operations, reckless endangerment, attempting to elude, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia, four counts of possession of a controlled substance and first degree possession of marijuana. Total bond for those charges adds up to $11,500.
It isn't clear if Cogburn was responsible for the reported shots being fired in the area.
