LOWNDES CO., AL (WSFA) - The victim killed in a single-vehicle crash in Lowndes County over the weekend has been identified as 50-year-old Patricia Jo Samolsky, according to Alabama State Troopers.
Samolsky, a Letohatchee resident, crashed her 2000 Jeep Cherokee around 4:40 p.m. Sunday on Lowndes County 62, about 10 miles east of Fort Deposit.
Investigators say the victim was not wearing a seat belt when the Jeep left the road and overturned. She was subsequently thrown from the vehicle and died on the scene.
While the investigation is ongoing, Troopers say alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.
