COFFEE CO., AL (WSFA) - A fire at a Wayne Farms chicken processing facility in Coffee County has been brought under control but fire crews are still checking for embers and hot spots that could potentially lead to a flare up, according to the county emergency management agency.

The EMA said it first learned of the fire at the plant on County Road 114 in New Hope around 6:45 a.m.

The blaze, which appears to be electrical in nature, was inside a wall behind or near an electrical panel, officials said.

Employees were evacuated and the building is being aired out. No major damage was reported.
