DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - The area of West Main Street in Dothan is back open after a suspect crashed during a chase with officers Tuesday morning.

According to Dothan Police, the crash happened westbound on West Main and Bocage. Around 4:30 a.m., officers responded to the call of a robbery at the Circle K Gas Station on Montgomery Highway. While in route to the scene, police say an officer spotted the suspect vehicle on John D. Odom and attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect refused to stop and fled from the officer, weaving in traffic before leaving the roadway and rolling.

The suspect was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled, according to police. Police say the suspect was taken to South Alabama Medical Center with significant injuries.

West Main, west of Brannon Stand, was closed as investigators processed the scene. It has since been reopened.

No other details including the identity of the suspect have been released at this time.

Editor's Note: Initially police reported the robbery happened at the Kangaroo Gas Station. This information has been updated to show the robbery actually occurred at the Circle K.
