Man arrested in Troy after meth, weapon found in vehicle

TROY, AL (WSFA) - Troy police arrested have arrested a man on two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.

Police took Gregory Floyd Richards. 49, into custody Tuesday in the 1100 block of U.S. Highway 231. A pre-existing warrant for Richards' arrest revealed that he was wanted for giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.

While in custody, police found a pistol under the driver's seat where Richards was sitting. Officers also recovered two plastic containers, one of which contained oval-shaped pills identified as Hydrocodone and the other, a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for meth.

After being processed through the Troy City Jail, Richards was transferred to the Pike County Jail where he has since been released on bond.
