MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Police are investigating after an elderly man drowned in a residential pool, according to officials with the Montgomery Fire Department.
Lt. Omari Whiting says around 12:47 a.m. fire and emergency units responded to a possible to the 4300 block of Salinas Court on a possible drowning. When units arrived, they located an elderly man who has been found at the bottom of a backyard residential swimming pool.
A witness on scene told investigators the man had been under the water for about 30 to 45 minutes. The man was pulled from the pool and resuscitation efforts were started, according to Whiting.
Unfortunately, emergency responders were unable to revive the patient after being submerged for the length of time.
Whiting says the Montgomery Police Department is now investigating.
The man's name has not been released.
