OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) - A festival in Opelika is bringing awareness to the arts.
Concourse South is an art and music festival that will be in downtown Opelika from Aug. 20 to Aug. 26.
Concourse South began as a one day event last year. Organizers were pleased with the turnout, and decided to expand the art and music festival to a week long celebration this year. Around 2000 people are expected throughout the week, and all money raised is going to organizations in the Opelika community.
"Proceeds will go to Oak Grows which is a nonprofit organization in town that does community gardens," said CottonSeed partner Richard Patton. "They do community gardens for the school systems and teach children about gardening and food prep and things like that. Also to Big House Foundation which is helping arts programming with them, with the proceeds that goes to foster children. East Alabama Arts Association and Main Street and then anything that is above that is put back into arts programming in the downtown area."
There will be food, drinks and both local and regional artists.
