SELMA, AL (WSFA) - A second suspect has been arrested in a Selma nightclub shooting that left one woman dead and a man injured.

Kenneth Ingram, 29, surrendered to police Thursday. He is charged with murder and assault. Another suspect, 30-year-old Juantonio Otesis Cosby, was arrested Wednesday night on one count of murder and one count of first degree assault. He was booked into the Dallas County jail under a recommendation of no bond.

The Selma Criminal Investigative Division signed warrants Wednesday for murder and first degree assault on Ingram in connection to a shooting at Prime Ultra Club on Maxey Street Sunday. According to police, officers were dispatched to the club at 1:47 a.m. on a call of disorderly conduct inside the club. At 1:50 a.m., the officers were notified about a second call of gunshots at the club.

Police arrived on scene at 1:53 a.m. and found 20-year-old Shykereya Leggett shot in the head and 31-year-old Eddie Williams shot in the leg. Both victims were taken to Vaughn Regional Medical Center, where Leggett was pronounced dead by Dallas County Coroner William Allen Dailey. Williams injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

Police say an investigation revealed that following an altercation inside the Prime Ultra Lounge, Cosby and Ingram left the building and laid in wait in an area adjacent to the club. Police say the suspects then fired shots at a crowd leaving the club and hanging around the club, ambush style. Officers say there is nothing to indicate the victims were involved in the altercation with the suspects.

The Selma Police Department is working with the Alabama ABC Board to determine the legal status of the Prime Ultra Club, and an investigation pertaining to the operation of the club is ongoing.

Police Chief Spencer Collier says the homicide rate in Selma is down 40 percent compared to 2016 but police will not be satisfied until that rate is zero.
