WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) - The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is asking for the public's help in finding out who stole firearms from a Wetumpka pawn shop.

According to ATF officials on Dec. 14 the Canal Chevron, located at 3475 Elmore Road, was burglarized and approximately four firearms were reported stolen. ATF investigators are in the process of conducting an inventory to determine the exact number of firearms stolen.

The ATF along with the Elmore County Sheriff's Office, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, are offering an award for information leading to the arrest and conviction for those responsible for the theft of firearms from Canal Chevron.

A reward is being offered of up to $2,500, which will be matched by the NSSF for a total reward of up to $5,000.

Anyone with information about this crime should contact the ATF at (800) ATF-GUNS (1-800-283-4867) or the Elmore County Sheriff's Office tip line at 334-567-5227. Information can also be sent to ATF through the mobile app by using the Nashville Field division as the location.

ATF officials say this reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF where the NSSF matched the rewards for cases involving federally licensed firearms retailers.
