DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - A Dothan Police Department officer has been arrested by Dothan Police Tuesday and charged.
Jonathan Whaley has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance as well as two counts of second-degree theft of property.
According to DPD, some officers noticed Whaley acting strangely during a training class. His behavior was identified as "erratic" and "highly unusual." This led to Whaley being taken to take a drug test.
He was placed on administrative leave, as is customary Dothan Police policy. In the process of being placed on leave, DPD said two bottles of a controlled substance were found in Whaley's police unit. Whaley was charged after a formal investigation.
