AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - Auburn police say a man is facing robbery charges after a convenience store clerk was robbed at gunpoint.
Jairus Tryheme Davis, 31 of Opelika, is charged with robbery first degree.
Police say the robbery happened on April 3 in the 1800 block of West Longleaf Drive. An armed suspect entered the business and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Wednesday, an armed suspect matching the same description as the April 3 robbery attempted to enter a convenience store in the 3900 block of Cox Road. The business had just closed and the clerk denied entry to the suspect who then fled.
A description of the suspect was given out to surrounding agencies. Minutes later, an Opelika officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle matching the suspect. Davis was identified as matching the description and taken into custody.
Davis was taken to the Lee County jail under a $100,000 bond.
Police say Davis may have been involved in potentially other robberies and other charges are possible.
