DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - A Dothan officer, facing multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance, has been terminated by the department.

According to Dothan officials, Jonathan Whaley was terminated following a determination hearing with the department.

Whaley was arrested on Tuesday after his behavior was identified as "erratic" and "highly unusual" during a training class.  Police say Xanax and Tylenol with Codeine were later found inside his patrol car.

A formal investigation remains ongoing. Whaley is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance as well as two counts of second-degree theft of property.
