PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Doughnut lovers circled their wagons, or at least their lawn chairs, around the new Krispy Kreme location in Prattville Monday. The first 100 in line were guaranteed a sweet reward for their glazed loyalty to the hot and ready sign.
The first man line was Prattville resident Richard Mathis, who said it was his two children who wanted him to go. Mathis set up his chairs at the door at 9 a.m. Monday.
Mathis will take home a free dozen-sized box of doughnuts every week for the next year. That's 624 tasty treats, in case you weren't counting. We're betting at least half of those will go to his church's youth pastor, who joined him at the door to keep him company.
The other 99 who made it to the line first get a free box of donuts monthly, plus a commemorative grand opening t-shirt.
This is the first Krispy Kreme location for the Prattville. Krispy Kreme already has locations in Auburn, Montgomery, and Hoover.
