Opp, AL (WSFA) - Two Opp police officers were injured when a truck rammed into their patrol cars.
According to the Opp Police Department, the first officer was patrolling in his vehicle at 9:11 a.m. Tuesday morning when he was hit in the rear by a Ford F-150. The truck passed the police vehicle and hit a trailer being pulled by a City of Opp truck.
Still trying to flee, the driver of the truck was met by the second officer in his patrol vehicle, which the suspect hit at the intersection of East Stewart Ave. and Maloy Street.
Officers removed the suspect, a 24-year-old resident of Andalusia, from the truck and took him to the emergency room. After he was treated, he was released into the custody of an ALEA state trooper and charged with two counts of second degree assault, attempting to elude a police officer, driving under the influence, and possession of a controlled substance.
