PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - The suspect that led Prattville police on a high-speed chase Thursday before being arrested has been identified.
Whittney Laken, 32, of Prattville, has been charged with fourth-degree theft of property, leaving the scene of an accident, two counts attempting to elude law enforcement, five counts of reckless endangerment and nine traffic violations.
According to the Prattville Police Department, a shoplifting incident at Rack Room Shoes was reported and a lookout of the suspected vehicle was given. A patrol officer saw the suspected vehicle, identified as a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, and attempted to stop it near the intersection of Tara Drive and Shelia Boulevard.
Police say the vehicle did not stop, instead it attempted to flee from the officer and hit another vehicle on McQueen Smith Road, leaving the scene of that accident. Soon after, other members of the Prattville Police Department and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency began pursuit.
The vehicle was tracked to a house on Huie Street, located off of Cobbs Ford Road and shortly after, the suspect, identified as Laken, was arrested and the stolen items recovered off her person. Rhodes was taken to the Autauga Metro Jail.
Police say there were no injuries to the motorist that was struck by Laken. She is currently being held on a $6,500 bond.
