DALE CO., AL, (WSFA) - A child has died after a drowning incident in Dale County.

According to the Dale County sheriff's office, on Sunday around 6 p.m. deputies were called to North County Road 59 in the Asbury Community about a drowning. When they arrived, they began CPR on a 9-year-old victim, Aaron Hamm, until Ozark EMS arrived.

The victim was transported to Dale Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after arrival, Chief Deputy Mason Bynum said.

While the case remains ongoing, Bynum says a preliminary investigation shows that the child may have wandered away from his residence and entered a neighbor's swimming pool.

No additional information is expected to be released in this case.
