MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Friday evening, the Montgomery Academy Eagles (20-3) held high the AHSAA Class 1A/3A Girls' State Soccer championship trophy after defeating West Morgan (20-7-0) 5-0.

Junior forward Tara Katz was dominant, scoring four goals in the final and seven total in the two matches played in the state championships on her way to earning tournament MVP.

Leighton Robertson scored the other goal in Friday's final, assisted on by Katz.

The championship was Montgomery Academy's seventh overall and first under first-year head coach Carter Tuck.

The Eagles have now won the last two Class 1A/3A titles.
