MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Prattville Christian Academy won it's first softball championship in convincing style. Friday, the Panthers (41-12) defeated Geneva (33-22) 7-1 in the championship game to finish the AHSAA Class 3A tournament undefeated.
Freshman pitcher Landyn McAnally earned tournament MVP honors and struck out eight in the circle en route to earning the win Friday night.
Prattville Christian took an early 5-0 lead over Geneva's Jaylee Stough, who gave up 10 hits and four earned runs. Hannah Thrift had a double and drove in four to lead the Panthers offensively.
Prattville Christian also had a trio of Panthers record a two-hit night.
McAnally gave up her only run in the bottom of the seventh. Anslee Finch took McAnally deep with a solo shot.
Four Prattville Christian Panthers were named to the Class 3A All-Tourney Team.
