Troy advances to SBC Baseball Tournament Championship game

LAFAYETTE, LA (WSFA) - The Troy Trojans are in he Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship game. The 3-seed Trojans (41-18)  run ruled No. 6 seed Texas State (30-28-1) 10-0 in eight innings.

The Trojans opened the scoring in the second inning when Brody Binder doubled home Chase Smartt. Brandon Lockridge scored two more runs on his seventh triple of the season in the game's third inning.

Troy broke things open with a five-run inning in the bottom of the fifth to give them a commanding 9-0 lead. Senior Daren Osby paced the Trojans on the mound en route to his seventh win of the year.

Troy will play Coastal Carolina in Sunday's championship game. The winner will get an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Sunday's game could be huge for the Trojans as they've been projected as a bubble team to either get in or fall out of the tournament's field.
