AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - During the past 65 years at J & M Bookstore, not much has changed - including the layout.

The store now sells fewer books and more t-shirts, but the business that began 65 years ago is still a family affair.

"Sixty-five years is my age. My parents started this store, it was May 19, 1953 when they opened this store. When you asked the question, you asked about service. That's what the store was built on, servicing the customer at that time," Trey Johnston, owner of J&M Bookstore. "Of course we sold a lot more college textbooks in 1953 then we do in 2018. It's really unique, really special, but to me in my generation, it's very significant because of what my father did And put into it. My children is where I see it, the third generation. They're wanting to continue it and wanting to to keep this business going and keep it strong and viable."

Johnston says retirement is right around the corner, and he's excited to pass this legacy on to his children.
