MACON COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - Macon County authorities are figuring out the pieces of what went terribly wrong Wednesday in east Macon County near Auburn. Detectives say a 27-year-old young man was killed.

Macon County homicide investigators tell WSFA 12 News the homicide happened off Highway 29 on Pinoakes Road. Detectives have identified the victim as 27-year-old Eric Williams and they have a suspect in custody.

Not far from this location, a woman identified herself as Eric Williams' great aunt. She declined to an on camera interview but claimed she knew nothing about what happened to Williams. It is not clear for the moment how Eric Williams died or the alleged motive behind it all. The Macon County Sheriff's Department initially interviewed two people possibly connected to the crime. Only one suspect is in custody and no word whether charges have been filed.

Sheriff Andre' Brunson declined, at least for now, to release the suspect's name.

A man on the property of the scene scene also declined to go on the record about the homicide.
