MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A warm, humid and mostly dry night is in progress across Alabama; temperatures will slowly drop into the 70s by sunrise Thursday. Any rain that's out there will quickly disappear overnight.

But, the rain chance cranks up tomorrow, especially by afternoon and evening.

We believe 50% or more of our area will see rain Thursday and Friday. Some of us will see heavy rain, thunder, lightning and some gusty wind - and there's some suggestion that these storms could produce damaging wind gusts in a few places.

The extra rain and clouds will likely knock a few degrees off of the temperature; afternoon highs tomorrow and Friday will likely stay in the lower 90s. It's not an actual "cooldown", but we'll take any relief we can get - however small it may be.

Over the weekend, the coverage of rain drops into the 20-30% range, and temperatures soar back into the mid 90s by Saturday and Sunday.
