According to the 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, around 3:45 a.m. deputies were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Brooklyn Road. When deputies arrived, they found a burned vehicle that was still smoking at a residence.

When deputies went to check the vehicle, they found Nelson's burned body beside it.

This is an ongoing investigation by the Covington County Sheriff's Office, Alabama State Fire Marshal, and the Covington County DA's Office. We are working to get additional details and will continue to update this story.
